About the Artist
Elizabeth Buckley grew up in St. Petersburg, FL. Art has been a natural expression all of Elizabeth’s life. She has very little formal training but a rich genetic heritage through a mother who is an artist and teaches painting. Elizabeth’s formal training is as a registered nurse. While raising four children her art was quite valuable in helping with children’s school projects and an economical source of gifting for birthdays and Christmas to friends and family.
In 1997 Elizabeth began to use her artistic talent professionally in a part time mural business. Then, she began to take commissions for paintings in oil or acrylic on canvas. She has since 2001 sent her mural clients to younger, budding artists and has been painting exclusively on canvas in her studio. Elizabeth has discovered that painting is a life-long journey – a mix of logic and passion, frustration and joy.
Elizabeth lives and works in Lexington, KY.
I paint because I love to paint. It is a burning and craving in my soul. I paint anything and everything, in all kinds of styles. But, my greatest passion in painting and that which gives me the greatest delight is to capture people - God’s highest creation. There is a scripture that asks, “What is man that You (God) take thought of him, and the son of man that You care for him? Yet You have made him a little lower than God, and You crown him with glory and majesty.” Each time I paint people my own heart is enlarged to understand a little better our great value.
